Raising Money for Child Advocacy

For over 10 years, TrueNorth has supported the Children’s Center of Southwest Missouri in their mission to provide care and assistance to victims of child abuse. The center acts as a safe space for children to report their stories and find the help they need from law enforcement, but away from interrogation rooms or homes where the abuse may take place.

As a nationally accredited organization, the Children’s Center provides essential services that not only provide answers but also offer hope and healing. These include forensic interviews, sexual assault forensic exams/child-at-risk exams, and trauma-focused therapy.

Their therapy program is led by three licensed clinical therapists who provide free counseling to children across 12 counties. Through this program, children gain the coping skills needed to reframe their trauma and find the strength to move forward with confidence and resilience.

At the heart of the Children’s Center’s success is collaboration. By working closely with law enforcement and child welfare agencies, the center keeps conversations focused. Every step of the process is handled with care and sensitivity to protect children from retraumatization—from creating a safe, child-friendly environment to ensuring they are supported by trained specialists. The well-being of the child remains number one above all else.
