A Path for Tomorrow’s Leaders
We were recently privileged to host 14 motivated students from Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) at an inspiring networking event, designed exclusively for the MSSU Global Leaders group. This event provided a unique platform for MSSU students to connect with 15 experienced industry leaders, explore potential internship opportunities, and strengthen their career-building networks.
The professionals in attendance represented a range of fields: Business & Marketing, Education & Counseling, Finance & Accounting, Healthcare & Medicine, and Technology. They generously used their time to share career insights with students.

“It was great to see the students connect and get a chance to talk about their career path. Our goal is to give MSSU’s Global Leaders hands-on access to local leaders who can offer advice, support, and maybe even internships.” – Bryan Vowels
The event was a blend of insightful conversations, shared experiences, and opportunities to learn. Local leaders and MSSU students mingled around the fire pit, just earshot from Shoal Creek, sharing stories of career challenges and triumphs. Many students found the event to be a valuable step toward understanding the career landscape and making connections for the future.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do with Psychology in my life. There are so many different avenues. After listening to the attorney and the doctor talk tonight, I’ve decided that I want to go into the law side of psychology.” – Kayleigh Martin, Psychology Major

“I’ve met a lot of people who can help me in my future. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to share my business ideas with others tonight.” – Kenley Howard, Business Entrepreneurship Major, Current Owner of Bakery, Kenley’s Kakes
As guests mingled over refreshments, we helped to foster connections by using nametags as a way to break the ice, with students choosing stickers that represent their hobbies outside of school.

At TrueNorth, we love being an active participant in our community. We’re so glad we are able to foster a supportive environment where students feel they’re not just networking, but building meaningful connections that will serve them for years.
